Orange Sunburst Zero-Cant J-Frame
This is the best, OWB BUG holster I know of.
A lot of people carry S&W J-Frames, or equivalent “snubby” revolvers as back up guns to their primary defensive handguns. Some of us don’t want to pocket-carry because we have other stuff in our pockets. Many pieces of ladies’ clothing are not equipped with pockets large enough to accommodate even the tiniest of defensive guns. Even if neither of the above applies to you, if your backup is steel, it isn’t fun to carry in a pocket. Thus, we must sometimes carry a BUG on a belt.
It’s common knowledge that it is unwise to carry a gun on your spine. If you fall, there’s simply way too much risk of causing serious back injury which could lead to untreatable paralysis. When you wear a gun on your back, it should be offset to the side of your spine for this reason. This holster is designed to be worn right behind your hip with the butt of the gun facing inward, toward but not covering your spine. This particular example is worn on the right side, but I’ve got examples of it reversed here and here. Because of the lack of cant angle, this style pulls the gun in extremely tight, and yet wears incredibly comfortably! The draw angle is more natural than you would expect as well.
The other major benefit of this style is that it can just as easily be drawn with your off hand!
This gives you the benefit of having your backup snubby in a truly ambidextrous holster! We all hope that we never have to use our defensive guns, but if it comes down to it, equal ease of reach from either hand could mean the difference between life… …and the alternative.
