45-Degree 1911 Pancake
Sometimes, the century-proven platform is the one to carry. Even if it means the ultimate in discreet carry.
I had someone request a holster like this 1911 pancake that I once made, but in black. The previous, blue example had vicious retention when new (now that it is broken in, this problem has subsided), and to this day, it pulls the gun in so aggressively that it tends to pull the belt away from the body. The owner still loves this holster despite these challenges. I tweaked the design slightly to offer a slightly larger well for the gun, and slightly larger ears for the belt loops. The results were a complete success! This holster pulls in TIGHT.
My lovely, 122-lb, size 4 wife modeled this holster with my brother’s 5-inch 1911 in it. It’s clear to see that a light jacket or even an unbuttoned shirt would easily hide JMB’s pride and joy on even her small frame. The retention is more than adequate, but the draw is crisp, clean, and with minimal effort.
This holster features complete hand-stitching in Kevlar thread, with a reinforced top-strap. I left the back panel unfinished split to provide friction against it walking on the belt line, and treated it with silicone, which blocks moisture from the gun. The top panel hides the stitching under the beautiful finish, further protecting the nearly indestructible stitching, and providing an extremely low-friction surface for the cover garment to drape against. These are, of course all standard features for my pancake-based holsters.
If you like this holster, but you would like it to wear in a different position on the belt line, have a different cant angle, or would like for it to settle higher or lower on the belt line, all of these adjustments are not only available, but encouraged. Soon, I will be unveiling a ‘Belt Optional’ IWB holster for a 5-inch 1911 based on the simple but effective M&P holster that I made.
Please keep checking back for new holsters. But, don’t hesitate to email me if you want something that you don’t see here. There are a few features that I have not experimented enough with to include in my product lineup, but I will tell you if that’s the case. As always, it doesn’t cost anything to ask.

I am hard to impress, but I am impressed. The material and workmanship is superb, with the edges of the face leather skived and turned under to give a finished edge all the way around.
Fit to both the Colt Series 70 and the Rock Island 1911 I am slicking up is also excellent. The holster tucks in very tightly, and has a firm but not difficult release. I can stoop all the way over without losing the gun as well.
Great holster! And I am looking forward to the next one.

That does look nice! I normally wear a pancake a little further forward with a bit less rake. I’d have to try that to see just how it feels to me, but the workmanship looks top shelf from the pictures.
