Tuckable Red Stingray
Pretty, isn’t it?
The black stingray Executive that I made for Stranger stirred up lots of attention – and the Executive design generally made me think that I might like to have a tuckable holster. Linoge at Walls of the City told me in email that the dye color of stingray fades as it wears. I had never noticed this about the hide before, but thought that it may deserve some further testing. It had been over two years since I got a new holster, and I’ve been needing one for my S&W M&P45c, so I decided to cobble up a tuckable red stingray holster for my Smith. This is also the first holster that I machine stitched.
I really love how this one came together. I am not by any means a big guy, but the double-stack .45 hides neatly even under a well-fitted tucked-in t-shirt.
If it weren’t for the belt clips, you wouldn’t see anything at all! But it is there.
I elongated and contoured the muzzle end of the holster to prevent pinching that IWB holsters have a tendency to do.
The fit is secure.
But the draw is light.
And fast!

Bear in mind that with it tucked like that, it will not be rubbing up against things nearly as often, so the stingray will have less of a chance to lose its dyes.
That said, the inner hem of your pants, on the other hand…
Dunno. Could just be that I got a bad batch. It does give the holster a very nice worn-in look, and I really do not mind it, personally.
Linoge, it made a great excuse for me to build a new holster that I wanted, anyway. I’ll justify it by calling it ‘R&D’.
