Rugged, beautiful leather holsters with a lifetime warranty

Cobra Derringer with Reload

P9102269

One of my wife’s co-workers wanted a SOB holster for his weapon of last resort – a Cobra 2-shot derringer chambered in .38 Spl. He requested that the holster also include one reload. This is what I came up with:

P9102272

It’s made of one piece of leather, and is quite effective in its duty. From what I’ve last heard from the owner, he still loves it. I’m not looking forward to stitching leather bullet sleeves again! If I get commissioned to do that, I’m going to have to figure out a new trick.

What this gentleman wanted was something that would securely hold the loaded gun, plus the easily accessible two extra shots, flat up against his belt. I believe I was able to accomplish that.

Honestly, I had a lot of fun with this particular challenge. It was quite a departure from what I had originally envisioned doing with holsters, but I really like the way it came out. I’m going to have to find an excuse to build an ankle rig for a derringer or snubby at some point.

I’ve done several semi-auto holsters, and quite a few revolver holsters, but this was the one and only derringer holster I’ve ever done. I believe I could do a lot better if given the chance to try again.

UPDATE & NOTE: I’ve received a lot of attention for this little holster. While I do appreciate the interest and inquiries, I do not own a derringer that I can build a holster around. I don’t own anything that approximates the size and shape of a derringer. If you live within driving distance of Central Oklahoma, I would be glad to make a derringer holster for you. Beyond that, I am unable to make derringer holsters at this time. Sorry for the inconvenience.

I’m now shopping for a Cobra derringer that I can use to fit custom holsters. Soon, these holsters will be available for order, so watch for updates. Thanks for your patience.

UPDATE 01/27/10 – I Now have a cast aluminum Cobra/Davis Big-Bore derringer (.38Spl/9mm/.380) and can start producing derringer holsters immediately! Email or comment for details. Thanks! –Michael

  1. That’s a great design for a holster. I like the extra bullet sleeves you added in.
I just picked up a Cobra 38spl derringer this morning. I’m contemplating a holster for it.
What would you charge for one just like it?

what does this derringer holster cost. for 38sp with 2 extra shots. im also interested in any other designs you may have thanks

  4. I have an American Derringer, Model #1 in .357 magnum and am interested in the holster design as shown above.
    The changes I would be interested in are as follows;
1). Can you make the exterior leather color black smooth satin finish and the interior of the holster black instead of red?
2). You show the holster with two loops. Can it be made putting in a total of four loops for the .357 magnum cartridge?
3). I’m left handed and I would like this holster to be made for the strong side. So I would extract the weapon on the right side of my torso using my left hand.
4). Are you able to put a slight up-word cant on the rear or the butt end of the pistol for easier extraction?
5). What type of restraint is used to keep the weapon secured?
6). And of course an approximate production time and the cost ! ! !

    I thank you in advance,
    Wayne B.

  5. Very interested in this holster. Please advise price and when available for .38 derringer.

I have a long bore 38spcl Cobra. I would love to have one of these holsters. It would have to be a little longer. Please advise me on the feasability of getting one.
